ABOUT
Marika Michelazzi, born in Milan (Italy), is an italian comics & book author specialized in fantasy historical, high, urban, sword & sorcery.
She's graduated at University (Università degli studi di Milano), in ancient and medieval History. Plus, she studied in depth comic's world at art school, both in Milan.
Marika bachelor's degree is about luxury trades (Silky Road, routes and maritimes) during early Roman Empire, in addiction to ancient Italy and middle ages studies; and about italian women writers in speculative fictions. She wrote urban fantasy novel, "C'era una volta in Paolo Sarpi", published with Acheron Books. She illustred a biography of J.R.R. Tolkien, "Sognando i Draghi", published with Eterea Edizioni.
She works with ARKEOPE, a company about storytelling for museums and cultural heritage, and she is painter for AIST (Italian Association for Tolkien Studies).

These days: Valtha is a maenad and live in Florence, alone. She is immortal, a follower of Dyonisus, the gods of wine, harvest and sacred madness. Siro, a satyr, find her in Florence and ask her help: Dyonisus is missing and in danger. But gods don't die: they vanished in oblivion... dragging their followers. So, Valtha and Siro reunite the thiaso, with maenads and fauns, and return to research their master and fight a old teomachy.
Flashback: how Valtha became immortal? She was a noble etruscan, marry with a prince, Aplu. They lived in ancient italy of VIII b.C., where the villages are small and forest are a wild reign. Valtha leaves the "civilezed" village and follows her lover in the forest, to Dyonisus' court. Valtha knows read and write, and had a singular power: she can order to lock open or close. In flashback we follow her in immortality across the ages in ancient Italy, with greeks, romans, celts, phoenician, and other gods, monsters and heroes.DEVICED

For the storyboards and inking, Marika use traditional mixed media like ecoline, watercolors, pencil, crayons, copic, inks on paper. Coloring, lettering and final retouching are done with Photoshop.
- Chiantishire's technique: ecoline (black, blue, red), ink (black, red, grey, blue, sepia), white acrylic on grey paper. Digital lettering.
- Sheets: BD size, (black) Palomino pencil on white paper.
Marika is working currently as freelance.Genres:
- Marika is working on comics and writing novels with a deep researches, above all for historical settings. Her art style is for BD sizes. Her characters and anathomy are “euromanga” (round, soft, big eyes, long hair and legs, catlike faces), many details (dress study, jewellery, swords, settings) and creature design
Her novels are set on italian setting, with our folklore creature, magic, duel-fight; as the storytelling mixed glocal elements, with mediterranean aestetics and spectacularity. Indeed, the inspiratin is mostly came out by the Fantasy World. Authors, artists, different media.
Her artworks are around italian and mediterranean ancient cultures and celts, since bronze age to Renaissance, with the particular attention to etruscan and pre-roman ages.
In her works, natural elements like woods, megaliths and ancient ruins give a special caught to eyes.
Mostly important, historical Myths & Folklores are a big frame on Marika's works.
Her major work is "Chiantishire", a comics saga based from a strong worldbuilding with mediterranean's cultures and etruscan age and society: woman's role, wine, war, temples, villages. It's also pastoral, with wood and forest's creatures.
Chiantishire's storytelling is speaks about friendships and love bounds, the time flowes, archeology and cultural heritages, write and oral cultures, climate change. Original starrings and characters are variety, from maenads to wizards or humans, some lgbtq+, or disability: adult, children, teen, and old. And last, but not lasy, there are many duel, magic, fantastic creatures, sword fights; pirates, wizards, gods, and spirits.
